Job Summary:

WAAY-31 in beautiful Huntsville Alabama is home to SEC football and looking for an energetic/charismatic Sports Director/MMJ who understands local sports is a lot more than game highlights and postgame interviews with coaches. This position is for someone who wants to approach sports from a community-based perspective, be known among high school and college athletics across the entire North Alabama region, and create the leading sports coverage department in the market. We are looking for someone to tell the stories of our local athletes. You must be able to identify when sports becomes the news and help flag those situations. Prior experience as a sports director is a plus.

All candidates should understand that assisting in news coverage can be part of the job.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor degree in Journalism, Mass Communication or equivalent
• 2 years experience as a MMJ is required
• Able to work independently and as a team member
• Ability to shoot and edit video
• Willing to work in any weather condition, holidays and weekends.
