ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS And RESPONSIBIITIES
- Lead and actively participate in projects involving the creation, scaling up and troubleshooting of processes for wear resistant coatings for use in industries such as cutting tools, forming tools (dies, punches, molds), internal engine components, bearings, medical instruments, etc.
- Direct interactions with customers for identifying and defining problems, technical requirements and establishing timelines to drive solutions into production.
- Hands-on operation of coating systems, along with upstream processes such as parts cleaning and surface preparation along with analytical and performance testing of coatings.
- Proactively searching for new surface finishing technologies and providing analysis to determine suitability for implementation.
- Establishing quality documentation for new processes including PFMEA/Control Plans, Work Instructions, training plans and performance specifications.
- Accelerated speed to market for surface finishing innovations and solutions.
- Help us transform into a premier provider of industrial wear coatings.
- Strong understanding an experience with PVD/PE-CVD vacuum technology is required.
- Strong knowledge of coatings for applications such as: cutting tools, plastic processing, metal forming and mechanical components.
- Experience with other surface treatments and finishing processes such as parts cleaning, electroplating and organic coatings and the evaluation of surface performance is a plus.
- Ability to develop and execute experimental plans, including basic Design of Experiment (DOE) methods.
- Good written and verbal communication ability for technical reports and presentations
- Proficiency with statistical software such as Minitab is a plus.
- Project management experience is a plus.
- Some travel will be required (~10%)
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Materials or Metallurgical Engineering or related field;
- 10 years of relevant work experience preferably in an industrial environment in R&D and/or process development department.
- Ability to manage projects and complete tasks with minimal supervision
