Summary:
We're looking for an innovative and solutions-oriented packaging engineer professional experienced in a wide-range of packaging formats and structures. The primary responsibilities include successful packaging design, development, qualification and commercialization of packaging solutions to support the innovation and productivity agendas. Other key responsibilities include supporting the cross-functional teams with risk-assessment, problem solving, solution seeking opportunities to improve operational efficiency, sustainability, and stability of existing product, packaging and processes. A successful packaging engineer should have excellent troubleshooting skills and be able to ensure that processes and packaging consistently meet established quality standards.
Your primary activities will include but are not limited to:
The Packaging Engineer will provide engineering and technical support to ensure dietary supplement package and product quality is built into the design, specifications and processes. Detailed duties are as follows:
1. Design, develop, qualify and commercialize packaging solutions to support the innovation, productivity and maintenance of the existing portfolio of finished products.
2. Technically support cross functional members by providing clear technical instruction and communication as it pertains to packaging.
3. Drive package design innovation for strategic projects working with external and internal partners.
4. Provide clarity and decision to team regarding project related issues pertaining to packaging and be accountable for results
5. Proactively search for new packaging technologies (innovation, cost-savings, sustainability) and educate team about them.
6. Provide packaging leadership to team related to business needs for new or existing initiatives (e commerce, sustainability, prolonging/improving product stability, etc.)
7. Collaborate closely with Product R&D, Marketing, Operations, Engineering, purchasing teams to lead and support innovation and productivity initiatives.
8. Ability to "SELL IDEAS" to internal clients (Ops, Mkt, Sales, Engineering, Purchasing, etc.) and external vendors.
9. Maintain and create packaging specifications, SOP’s, and policies within our specification and eQMS systems.
10. Conducts root cause analysis using the Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control (Six Sigma DMAIC) principles for defects, non-conformities, or other quality failures.
11. Proactively meet with suppliers and design companies to discuss innovation and changes to existing packages and discuss other options that can benefit Vytalogy Wellness.
12. The job function listed is not exhaustive and shall also include any responsibilities as assigned by R&D management from time to time.
You’ll need the following (minimum qualifications):
1. Degree from an accredited higher learning institution with studies in packaging, process, industrial, or mechanical engineering related fields.
2. 5 years of experience in package engineering or a similar role.
3. Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a cross-functional team within a demanding environment. This position communicates with all levels of internal personnel and vendors. Strong oral communication skills are required to establish interpersonal relationships across the organization.
4. Ability to complete and present technical analysis and assessments.
5. Computer proficiency in Microsoft based software for project management and presentation preparations (i.e., MS WORD, MS EXCEL, MS POWERPOINT, MS PROJECT, etc.).
6. Hands-on ability to work in manufacturing environments to complete technical transfers to production team.
7. Flexible and able to adapt quickly to changing situations.
8. Occasional business travel required, and ability to work non-standard schedule as needed.
