VTG is seeking a Travel Senior Technician/Crew Supervisor to suppport multiple Department of State locations.

• Oversees or assists in the installation of structured cabling systems (fiber optic and copper).
• Oversees or assists in building telecommunication closets while adhering to applicable standards and specifications.
• Ensures grounding and bonding are compliant with applicable standards and codes.
• Ensures fire stopping procedures are accurately followed.
• Oversees or assists in testing and troubleshooting of structured cabling systems.
• Ensures transmission fundamentals of copper and fiber media are maintained.
• Uses knowledge of and experience with Outside Plant operations to ensure rodding, roping, and fiber splicing and tipping are properly performed.
• Troubleshoots entire communications system to determine if problems are related to hardware or cabling.
• Tests and evaluates newly installed or existing hardware to determine efficiency, reliability, and compatibility.
• Utilizes technical manuals and brochures to determine equipment which meets establishment requirements.
• Visits vendors to learn about available products, enhancements, or services.
• Reviews timesheets and expense reports for accuracy, approves these documents, and ensures they are submitted in accordance with company procedures.
• Compiles, reviews and/or submits other reports, such as site reports or project status reports, as required by management.

• HS plus five years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience to include an AS plus three years of related experience or BS plus two years in related field.
• DoD TS active clearance required. TS/SCI or higher a plus.
• Minimim of 5 years or more of hands on experience and supervision of installation crews for the following:
  • Copper Cat6, Multimode, and Single mode fiber cable pulling
  • Backbone fiber and copper cable pulling
  • Installing cable conveyances such as J-hooks, cable tray, ladder rack
  • Build out of Telecommunications rooms with racks, cabinets, grounding, wall fields, overhead ladder rack and drop offs, etc
  • Termination of SC, LC fiber connectors for MM and SM fiber at both patch panels/modules and work area outlets
  • Termination of RJ45 copper jacks at both patch panel and work area outlets
• Minumum of 2 years or more hands on experience for the following:
  • Deinstallation and installation of CCTV cameras, mounting to walls, ceilings, etc
  • Installation of door contacts for Access Control. Other knowledge of Access Control a plus
  • Installation and mounting of Paging speakers per design. Testing of paging speakers a plus
• Ability to understand floor plans, cable pathways, rack elevation drawings, and ability to Red line any changes
• Ability to travel for various task orders but primary support to cabling projects in National Capital Region
• Knowledgeable in use of standard installation tools such as drill, Sawzall, hilti powdered actuated tool, and others
• Ability to generate cable run list from installed cabling and generate labels for cabling and patch panels
• Ability to stay on project schedule and report daily status reports accurately to Project Manager daily and weekly
• Adhere to all required safety policies and wear PPE as required
• BICSI Level 2 certification is preferred.
• A valid driver's license is required.
