Job Summary
A Test Automation Engineer is part of a team supporting our NIWC – US Navy customer on the Maintenance Figure of Merit (MFOM) program. The team provides software design, development, implementation, and operations expertise to the customer. As a Test Automation Engineer, you work with a team of Developers, Cloud and Network Engineers supporting one or more enterprise applications. You will identify, communicate, and resolve technical issues that are important in all aspects of this role.
As with any position, additional expectations exist. Some of these are, but are not limited to, adhering to normal working hours, meeting deadlines, following company policies as outlined by the Employee Handbook, communicating regularly with assigned supervisor(s), and staying focused on the assigned tasks including company meetings, and completing other tasks as assigned.
Responsibilities
The ability to design, develop and execute test automation scripts
Knowledge of Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) and Test-Driven Development. (TDD) concepts
Knowledge of CI/CD workflows, Jenkins, Jira, Bitbucket or any other Git Tools
Experience in the development of test frameworks from scratch, e.g. Katalon, Robot Framework, Cucumber, SpecFlow
Work closely with product management, development, delivery, and support teams, ensuring that testing of new and existing functionality is automated as quickly as possible and that the complete automated regression test suite is run continuously
Create detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test plans and test cases for deployment to test environments
Participate in the SAFe Agile Scrum team environment with a focus on planning and delivering changes iteratively
Work closely with Product Owners/Business Analysts, Managers, and Agile Teams to understand the product requirements and user stories to deliver high quality software on schedule for production releases
Determine the priority for test scenarios and create execution plans to implement these scenarios
Applying Designing and Test Automation Strategy Document
Creating an automation test plan and getting approval
Creating, Enhancing, Debugging and Running Test Cases
Organizing, monitoring defect management process handling changes and conducting regression tests
Find solutions for issues related to object identity issues and error handling
Coordination of the members of the Test team and the development team to solve the issues
Create a software defect tracking report of the entire project release status to stakeholders
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Basic Qualifications
US Citizenship
Must have an active DOD Secret Clearance
Must have Level 1 or higher IAT Certification (A CE, Security , CCNA-Security, CND, Network CE, SSCP)
Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in Information Systems, Computer Science, or another related field
Demonstrated experience working with development tools like Jira, Jama, Confluence
Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail
Demonstrated ability to communicate well with peers and leadership
Preferred Qualifications
3-5 years Automation experience is required
Demonstrated hands-on with test automation in the following languages (one or several): Java/C#/Python/JavaScript
Demonstrated Experience in building test automation frameworks from scratch
Demonstrated ISTQB Foundation, Advanced Test Automation certification
Cloud certification
