Volunteers of America Northern Rockies is Hiring a MORAL INJURY COORDINATOR - BUTTE Near Butte, MT

Summary/Objective

The Moral Injury Coordinator provides expertise, training, and consultation to the Service Coordinators of Supportive Service of Veteran Families (SSVF) in the area of moral injury and its effect on Veterans. This position will assist Veterans in identifying moral injury experiences and appropriate community referrals to ensure their success in stabilizing their housing. This position will infuse moral injury knowledge into the program to develop and implement best practices for serving Veterans within the SSVF program.

Essential Functions

  • Complete extensive initial and ongoing education and training to become a moral injury subject matter expert.
  • Responsible for connecting community partners with Moral Injury training in their communities
  • Responsible for initiating, cultivating, and maintaining productive community partnerships to enhance Moral Injury referrals per community.
  • Conduct extensive outreach activities in respective communities to identify Veterans who qualify for the SSVF program and develop best practices in documenting such actions to be regularly reported to and reviewed by the Director of Veteran Services and others as assigned
  • Work with SSVF leadership to implement and integrate moral injury best practices in SSVF services and case management, including developing necessary forms.
  • Lead the development of community Veteran-led peer programs as assigned by the position's direct supervisor
  • Work directly with SSVF enrollees on a case-by-case basis and help assess the barriers and needs of Veterans enrolled in SSVF, including performing case management and maintaining case files as assigned.
  • Maintain case management data in the Homeless Management Information System as assigned
  • Ensure ongoing education of all programmatic changes through online SSVF training and SSVF program guide updates
  • Report to the position's direct supervisor as determined for all outreach efforts, referrals made to the position, assessments completed to identify moral injury, and referrals made to community partners to treat the Veterans' moral injury.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions within SSVF.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers, and smartphones.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. This would require lifting files, opening filing cabinets, and bending or stooping as necessary.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel

This job will require extensive travel to SSVF offices in both Wyoming and Montana.

Required Education, Experience, or Eligibility Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree and one to two years of case management experience

Or

  • Associates degree and two to three years of case management experience

Or

  • High School or equivalent and five years of case management experience

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a social service or clinical-related field
  • Specialized training in moral injury
  • Three to five years of case management experience
