Volunteers of America North Louisiana is a faith-based, nonprofit organization with a mission to provide opportunity, promote dignity, and inspire change in all who find their way to us. As a church without walls, we do this through personalized housing, health, and human services that benefit children and families, veterans, individuals with disabilities, and senior adults.

Founded in 1896 by social reformers Ballington and Maud Booth, Volunteers of America began as a movement of “volunteers” who were committed and sought to "reach and uplift" the American people. Volunteers of America North Louisiana began in Shreveport in 1935 with the opening of a shelter for women and children. Leading with our long-standing reputation and brand, the agency has grown to operate 40 programs, which tackle our communities’ most pressing issues and integrate our deep compassion with highly effective programs.

LightHouse Education Liaison
Job Summary:
The Education Liaison will work with the main LightHouse staff, school site coordinators, community site coordinators, school personnel, and other educational entities to further advance the LightHouse after-school program academically.

Essential functions:
Responsible for merging day-to-day in school leaning with the after-school program to ensure chances for success and remediation of skills learned.
Serves as a liaison between district personal, administrators, school day staff, and LightHouse Program staff.
Attends PLC/Cluster/IPM meetings on school site campuses as well as professional development in attempt to relay information to the after-school staff.
Visits and monitors all program sites weekly to ensure high quality programming.
Monitors and evaluates student achievement in Math and Reading for the purpose of referring students to appropriate intervention and support services withing the program.
Consults with school day teachers using the information gathered from the Linkage to School Day forms as well as classroom and after-school program observations.
Assumes responsibility for and facilities the continuous improvement of Literacy and STEAM in all 21st CCLC programs.
Conferences with parents, teachers, and students regarding academic progress.
Meets with Director of LightHouse programs to address student progress and concerns.
Submits reports to Director of LightHouse programs
