The Position:
Volunteers of America of North Louisiana is currently hiring licensed mental health professionals for the EpiCenter program - a First Episode Psychosis Clinic. The primary role of the LMHP will be to assist in creating a recovery-oriented, person-centered, trauma informed treatment environment through outreach, skills building, and support services provided to clients who quality as Clinically High Risk for Severe and Persistent Mental Illness or at risk for developing psychosis and do not otherwise qualify to be enrolled in the EpiCenter program. Ensure functionality of clients at school and/or work through family and individual psychoeducation and linkage to resources.
LMHP Major Duties & Responsibilities:
JOB DUTIES:
  • Engage client and family/other supports and establish a trusting, collaborative relationships directed towards the goal of improving overall functioning of the client in their natural environments (home, school, work, and/or community).
  • Provide psychoeducation related to severe and persistent mental illness, symptoms, and related treatment to the client and family/other supports.
  • Provide face-to-face interviews, community-based services, individual/group interventions, and crisis intervention.
  • In collaboration with Treatment Team, assess client’s functioning on an ongoing basis utilizing data analysis from the EHR system, background information, functioning status in natural environments, and work/school experience. With the client’s permission, provide education and support family members and other supportive individuals in the client’s life.
  • Seek to engage the family and other supports in the care of the client being served through engagement, outreach, and other collaboratively appropriate activities as recommended by the Treatment Team.
  • Work with and on behalf of the client to advocate and provide support to improve school/job functioning through family and individual psychoeducation.
  • Provide case management services and case collaboration with PCP, schools, probation officer, employer, parent/guardian/significant others and any other appropriate individuals.
  • Provide timely interventions. Return phone calls and react to situations in a timely manner. Collaborate with Treatment Team as appropriate for guidance and support outside of regular team meetings.
  • Attend all required trainings and supervisory meetings as deemed appropriate by the Program Director.
  • Coordinate, schedule, and conduct sessions with clients as recommended by Treatment Team.
  • Ensure all documentation entered into the electronic health record (EHR) is accurate, meet quality standards, and are submitted in a timely manner.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum of a Master’s Degree in counseling, social work, psychology or other human service-related field.
  • Fully licensed, able to practice independently, and in good standing with respective board. At least one year of experience in delivery of direct mental health services, preferably in a community-based setting.
  • Must be able to speak and write effectively.
  • Must be able to work as an effective team player.
  • Flexible and creative attitude and approach.
  • Must have professional appearance and possess professional and personality characteristics, which are necessary to effectively interact with multiple stakeholders.
