Responsibilities:

  • Able to explain and demonstrate fire/emergency procedures and must participate in any emergency or drill activities.
  • Properly use and maintain facility equipment, reporting/taking out of service any equipment with breakage or needed repairs.
  • Organize and prioritize work assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Organize, maintain, and supervise progressive feeding groups.
  • Communicate both in writing and orally with staff, residents, and family members.
  • Create and uphold an atmosphere of warmth, patience, enthusiasm, and a calm and cheerful environment.
  • Provide exercise and strengthening programs as outlined in the individualized resident restorative plan.
  • Provide routine therapy services under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.
  • Review care plans daily to determine if changes in the resident's daily care routine have been made on the care plan.
  • Check each resident routinely to ensure that his/her personal care needs are being met in accordance with his/her wishes.
  • Coordinate and provide individual assistance with restorative activities of daily living.
  • Facilitate increased percentage of resident intake within eating group time frames.
  • Maintain the restorative room in a neat orderly manner.
  • Document resident's mental, emotional, and physical status.
  • Encourage residents to reach set goals aimed at attaining their highest level of independent functions.
  • Maintain and promote a positive and professional attitude.
  • Teach and assist with the use of mobility support or safety devices.
  • Provide individual restorative care, including range of motion (ROM) exercises and group exercise classes.
  • Participate in facility surveys by authorized government agencies.

Requirements:

  • Hold an active CNA certification in the practicing state and be in good standing.
  • Achieve 12 hours of in-service education annually as required by federal regulations (as well as state requirements, if exceeds federal).
  • Ability to adapt to a flexible work schedule.
  • Possess a minimum of a GED or Diploma.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all resident care information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
  • Ability to relate positively, effectively, and appropriately with residents, families, community members, volunteers, and other facility staff.
  • Possess a special interest in, and a positive attitude about, working with long-term care residents and the elderly.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English, and be able to follow oral and written directions at a level necessary to accomplish the job.
  • Willing to assist others, including co-workers.
  • Ability to maintain regular attendance.
  • Meet all health requirements, as required by law.
  • Demonstrate basic computer knowledge with the ability to learn company documentation software.
  • Demonstrate understanding of State and Federal rules and regulations that govern the practices within the facility.
  • Effectively communicate necessary resident information to Charge Nurses, Director of Nursing and/or Administrator.
