Overview

The Quality Assurance (QA) Specialist is responsible for providing leadership in implementing and maintaining the VNSFS QA Program under the direction of the VNSFS QA Manager. The QA Specialist will assist the VNSFS QA Manager in the following functions:

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

• Ensures QA processes and procedures are performed in accordance with the VNSFS QA Program.• Interpret the requirements of ASME NQA-1 and ISO 9001 for their application to VNSFS’ QA Program.• Assume responsibility for the structure, control, and maintenance of VNSFS’ QA program, procedures, work instructions, and records.• Provides leadership for quality assurance and quality control support on assigned project(s).• Conduct internal audits and perform on-site and off-site surveillances, as required, to ensure that QA Program requirements are met.• Plan, schedule, and participate/lead QA program audits, surveillances and assessments in support of assessment and corrective action programs.• Interface with clients, vendors, and VNSFS personnel to resolve quality problems and provide information.

Accountabilities:

• Assist with the performance of effective Management/Independent assessments.• Keeps Management fully apprised of significant occurrences and trends that impact the quality of VNSFS design deliverables.• Management and control of QA documents and records.• Provides technical consultation in conjunction with management to engineers, technicians, and inspectors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of experience.

Experience & Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years related experience implementing an ASME NQA-1 and ISO 9001 Program.
• Must be proficient with general computer use, e-mail, electronic calendars, Word processing applications, spreadsheet applications, etc.
• S. Department of Energy experience is desired.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills needed to facilitate project milestones.
• Must be able to clearly and concisely communicate to peers and management.
