VNS Federal Services is Hiring a Project Specialist/Engineer Near Los Alamos, NM

Overview

Without immediate supervision, manages contracts and supports projects as assigned by senior management. Typical job responsibilities include:

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Plans, schedules, and organizes contracts to ensure compliance with all contract requirements, quality standards and budgetary guidelines.
  • Support various Project Managers with all aspects of contracting project life cycle, including scope definition, developing detailed plan, tracking, managing, and communicating project status.
  • Ensures compliance with project contracts including all Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Department of Energy Acquisition Regulations (DEAR) requirements.
  • Develops the Work Breakdown Structures for control and integrity of work to be performed as defined by the contract; develop and maintain project coding.
  • Develops integrated EPC schedules/cost control programs.
  • Recommends solutions or recovery plans to schedule/cost impact or delay.
  • Analyzes variances in cost and schedule performance against the plan and communicates the reasons with the Project Manager(s).
  • Maintain Contract Budget Logs; Provides Status of Management Reserves.
  • Possesses practical experience in the use of automated cost management and scheduling systems.
  • Provides historical data.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Maintains knowledge of and demonstrates ability to perform work safely in accordance with all approved safety policies, procedures and applicable regulations and performs assigned duties in a safe manner.

  • Work in an office environment.
  • Ability to perform primary office duties including heavy computer usage.
  • In some cases, radiological training may be required.

Qualifications

Education & Certifications:

  • BA/BS degree in a related field and 5 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Position title to be established based on degree and skillset

Experience & Requirements:

  • Typical experience ranges from 5-10 years or greater.
  • Strong PC skills including Microsoft office suite; automated accounting and cost management systems.
  • Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project software experience (preferred)
  • Expert understanding of federal and state policies and regulations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Understands the fundamental concepts of estimating.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Exemplary attention to detail.
