Viwinco Brand is Hiring an Automation & Controls Technician Near Morgantown, PA

We have an exciting opportunity for an Automation and Controls Technician, on all shifts, who will be responsible for performing maintenance and repairs on manufacturing equipment including automation systems, control systems and inspection equipment. In the addition the successful candidate will respond to routine and emergency requests for equipment repair specifically related to an automation or systems control issue. The Automation Technician works within the Maintenance Organization and supports Operations and all plant functions as required.

Hours:

1st shift: 7:00 AM - 3:30PM, Monday-Friday

2nd shift: 3:30 PM -12:00 AM, Monday-Friday

3rd shift: 11:00 PM - 7:30AM, Sunday-Thursday

Compensation:

  • Starting rate $28/hr, but will pay more based on experience

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Provide electrical and automation technical expertise to operational team in addressing equipment malfunctions and sub-par asset performance
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with all operational counter parts on all shifts
  • Ensures that all pertinent automation and control standards are upheld on any repair, rebuild, upgrade or new installation of equipment
  • Provides proactive input to develop or improve automation and control standards and documentation
  • To understand, demonstrate, and share the basic theory of operation for all assets
  • Always carries a radio and responds to breakdown calls in a courteous and timely manner
  • Communicates with proper maintenance leadership regarding corrective maintenance required to insure optimum line efficiency & product quality
  • Recognizes, recommends, and implements continuous improvement opportunities on equipment
  • Leads the improvement and enhancement of existing equipment functionality to improve line performance and related efficiencies
  • Responsible for maintaining well organized and accurate programming records, ladder logic edits, program revisions and all pertinent programming backups

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

  • Service and maintain complex industrial equipment from an automation, controls, electrical and mechanical perspective to provide a high level of uptime
  • Responsible for troubleshooting problems which arise in all plant control systems and bringing them to a timely and successful resolution using a root cause approach
  • Able to work independently and with others to inspect, troubleshoot, analyze, disassemble, rebuild, modify, train and test machinery and equipment
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, drawings, and ladder logic to repair and maintain equipment
  • Apply a strong working knowledge in areas such as electronics, PLC controlled systems, HMI’s. and comprehensive automation systems
  • Apply a strong aptitude in mechanical systems, pneumatics, and hydraulics too
  • Document Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) as related to new and existing equipment
  • Develop and execute creative solutions to test equipment to meet proper operating parameters
  • Being an active partner in Maintenance Storeroom performance and spare parts accuracy by properly signing out all parts that are removed from inventory. Alert Storeroom Leader when last part is removed
  • Actively support and participate in 5S programs where applicable. Proactively apply in workspace
  • Daily Interaction with the CMMS is paramount as shift activities need to be accurately documented
  • High awareness for safety and environmental aspects of working in a manufacturing environment

Knowledge / Skills:

  • Strong electrical and mechanical skills
  • Strong knowledge of PLC’s, HMI’s, Servo Systems, and related controls
  • Strong knowledge Rockwell software and related software
  • Knowledge of Vision systems and Robotics, preferred
  • Strong analytical, decision making, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written, verbal, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient computer skills including:
  • - MS Office Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint- CMMS Capability and Usage Skills
    • Able to handle multiple priorities
    • experience with programming, troubleshooting, and debugging of industrial controls

Education:

  • 2-year degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, automation, robotics technology or equivalent and/or 10 years of relevant experience as a maintenance craft in a manufacturing environment
