Job SummaryThe Oncology Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive care coordination for a disease-specific group of urology patients receiving infusions. In addition, this position provides individual assistance to patients, families, and caregivers to help identify and evaluate patients receiving immunotherapy and chemotherapy infusions and support medications.Qualifications Required* Current Texas RN license* Two or more years of medical oncology preferred* Either Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemotherapy certified or willing to obtain within six months from the start date* Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification* Proficient at initiating IV starts* IV and venous access device management skills* Effective communication and documentation skills* Ability to work well independently, multitask and work in a fast-paced environment* Must possess strong customer service and problem-solving skillsDUTIES AND ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS* Follows all policies, procedures, and guidelines outlined in the employee handbook, including dress code and time and attendance policies.* Demonstrates competency in all aspects of administering chemotherapy, immunotherapy infusions, and support medications.* Educates patients and caregivers on disease processes, side effects, and symptom management.* Develops a plan of care based on the patient's disease, symptoms, and response to treatment.* Ensures prior authorization and appropriate consent forms have been obtained by the ordering physician.* Communicates effectively with physicians and other members of the multidisciplinary team.* Adheres to all protocols, policies, and procedures.* Communicates all pertinent information and any interventions to the physician or mid-level provider.* Assesses and monitors patients' therapy using appropriate technical skills under the direction and supervision of a provider.* Needs to cross-train and perform duties as required in other clinic areas, including triage and scheduling.* Provides high-quality attention to detail and strong organizational skills* Adheres to all protocols, policies, and procedures.* Participate in maintaining the environment of care, including equipment and material resources.General Responsibilities* Adheres to the laws and regulations of Medicare, Medicaid, and other government payers in relation to the performance of the job duties.* Attends staff meetings, clinical meetings, and in-service training as scheduled and required.* Promotes teamwork and works effectively with others, and displays a positive attitude.* Demonstrates professionalism and compassion to patients and coworkers.* Reports in good faith to the manager and Director any suspected violation of applicable laws and regulations.* Understands and follows all HIPPA and compliance guidelines to ensure the security of the patient.* Performs other duties assigned by the manager or provider while maintaining a helpful attitude.* Communicates and corresponds to physicians, patients, and coworkers with strong oral and written skills.Preferred* Bilingual, Spanish speaker
