Apply now to join our team.The Nurse II (Clinical Coordinator) performs complex (journey-level) nursing work that involves providing for the assessment, care, and treatment of patients. They are responsible for providing activities that support the mission of the program and the State Hospital. Participates in program development, maintenance, and clinical oversight. Conducts nursing audits to ensure on-going compliance with standards of care. Participates in the development of nursing specific program policies and procedures. Prepares the monthly nursing schedules. Participates in the hiring process and serves as a preceptor for newly hired RNs/LVNs. The Clinical Coordinator provides clinical RN coverage, as assigned by the Nurse Manager. The Clinical Coordinator serves as a member of the Performance Improvement Team (PIT). Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgementPerforms other duties as assigned. Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency's obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location.Essential Job Functions:Attends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.Assists the Nurse Manager as assigned, to assure compliance with departmental rules, nursing standards of practice, hospital policies and procedures and program requirements. Uses available data to prepare reports and conducts clinical audits as a method to ensure The Joint Commission (TJC) readiness.In the absence of the Nurse Manager oversees and provides guidance to othersto ensure continuity of nursing operations and promote program integrity.Reviews the Nursing 24-Hour report and follows up accordingly. Communicates significant events/unusual incidents related to patient care and management of the unit to the Nurse Manager and leadership. Ensures the program is staffed according to the established nurse staffing plan.Provides focused educational in-services by identifying program specific training needs and assists with developing curriculum to address those needs. Assists in the tracking of agency and hospital required training.Utilizing the principles of psychiatric rehabilitation and the recovery-oriented models of care when providing intervention, modeling, coaching, and guidance for both staff and patients to promote therapeutic communication and a healthy milieu.Serves as a preceptor for newly hired RNs/LVNs to promote retention. Participates in recruitment initiatives, and in the hiring process to promote available human resources. Participates in new employee orientation.Helps to monitor compliance with required drills and ensures supplies are available to staff for the provision of care.Performs other duties as assigned.
