SUMMARY OF PRINCIPAL & MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: The Strategic Partnership Manager will be responsible for effectively engaging with the community to promote the mission of Visit Corpus Christi and related programs while generating sponsorships for organizational events. The Strategic Partnership Manager will directly oversee the community engagement efforts to increase awareness and support for the organization.

The ideal candidate will develop and implement a strategic approach for building strong relationships with key community members, stakeholders, and partners while implementing effective strategies for planning and executing successful events and producing compelling resource materials that promote the organization's mission.

The Strategic Partnership Manager will work under the direction of the President & CEO as well as collaborate across departments to ensure that all community engagement efforts are aligned with the organization's goals and objectives.

CLASSIFICATION: Full-Time, Exempt: Bi-Monthly, Salary

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Essential Functions):

  • Work with CEO & Chief Operating Officer to develop and implement the long-term strategic vision for resource development and community engagement.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive total resource campaign program that includes a comprehensive list of all community engagement events and partnership opportunities.
  • Develop highly targeted sponsorship proposals.
  • Oversee all aspects of total resource campaign, including securing sponsors, managing fulfillment, and development of marketing materials.
  • Plan, execute, and successfully generate sponsorships for organizational events.
  • Monitor and report on the success of community engagement efforts to the organization’s leadership.
  • Manage the Strategic Progression program.
  • Set goals, monitor work, and evaluate results of revenue budget in line with the needs of the mission of the organization.
  • Collaborate with marketing and communications departments to integrate community engagement initiatives into the organization's overall strategy.
  • Conduct research to identify new engagement opportunities and potential partners.
  • Foster a cooperative work environment with co-workers, managers, and external partners.
  • Attend and engage in community events to foster the community relationship with tourism.
  • Facilitate and recommend to VCC leadership speaking and community engagement opportunities.
  • Speak at strategic events to forward the VCC message and offerings of the organization.
  • Facilitate and assist in the implementation of key VCC community events including Tourism Academy initiatives, workforce development initiatives, and other partner facing events.
  • Stay up to date on the latest trends in destination management and partnership management by attending conferences, webinars and workshops.

Other Functions

  • Travel to attend industry events and to promote the destination to potential visitors (Up to 15% of the year)
  • Any additional duties as assigned.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Requirements are representative of minimum levels of knowledge, skills, and/or abilities.)

  • Excellent verbal presentation and written communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling messages for various audiences.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and ability to work independently.
  • Understanding of the tourism industry, including its marketing strategies, trends, and challenges.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data to inform decision-making.
  • Knowledge of community engagement strategies and practices that drive awareness and support for organizations.
  • Strong leadership and management skills and ability to willingly make procedural decisions, exhibiting sound and accurate judgment while making timely decisions.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships and work well with others as part of a team.
  • Ability to espouse high ethical standards and expect the same from all others in the organization.
  • Ability to function well in a fast-paced and, at times, stressful environment.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle, either personal or company, for various Visit Corpus Christi businesses.
  • Ability to plan, develop, manage, and coordinate multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Ability to travel up to 15% of the time annually.
  • Ability to anticipate and solve practical problems and resolve issues. 
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment with co-workers, managers, and external partners. 
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Extensive knowledge of Corpus Christi and its attractions.
  • Knowledge of Tourism, Hospitality, Hotel industry.
  • Professional image representative of the company image.
  • Provides strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse community, including managers, co-workers, customers, and the public in general.
  • Works effectively with Microsoft products (Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Education, Training, and Experience:

  • At least 3-5 years of experience in community engagement or marketing, preferably in the tourism industry.
  • BA in Business Administration, Marketing, or Communications preferred

License/Certifications:

  • Certified Fund Raising Executive preferred
  • Must have valid drivers license and must be insurable under VCC current motor vehicle insurance policy.

Computer Software:

  • Microsoft Office Suite software, Outlook, OneNote.

Equipment to be Used and Operated:

  • Telephone; Computer; Copy machine; Postage machine; and Scanner

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit for extended periods of time. Shall be able to apply 20 lbs. of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Must be able to view computer screen for extended period of time with clear, close-up vision. 

Mental/Emotional Requirements:

Must be able to work in a fast-paced and customer service-oriented environment; to perform duties under pressure and meet deadlines in a timely manner; to work as part of a team as well as to complete assignments independently; to take instructions from supervisors; to exercise problem-solving skills; and to interact with co-workers, supervisors, customers, and the public in a professional and pleasant manner. 

Safety Responsibilities:

Must learn and comply with all organization safety rules; must always use appropriate safety equipment; must immediately report all unsafe condition to supervisors; must be familiar with all safety features or equipment, machinery, or materials encompassed by job duties; and must check with supervisor if there is a question as to the safe procedure to be used for any job function. 

Additional Requirements:

Employees are required to reside within the defined Corpus Christi Metropolitan Statistical Area.
