Vision Specialists of Michigan is Hiring an Optical Assistant Near Bloomfield, MI

We are looking for a caring and compassionate person with a friendly and outgoing personality to join our team as an optician. Previous optician experience is desired. We will provide on-the-job, hands-on training will be provided our new team members, allowing them to start connecting with our patients and processes right away.

This is a full-time position requiring 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, no weekends, or late evening hours. Compensation is competitive with a full benefits package that includes health and dental insurance, vision benefits, paid vacation, holiday, and personal time off.

General Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Communication with the Doctor regarding patient’s prescription recommendations
  • Interpreting the results of eye examinations using prescriptions written by doctors
  • Collaborating with patients to find solutions to all their visual needs
  • Knowing what lens designs and products will be appropriate for each patient
  • Assisting patients in the selection process of frames and lenses
  • Performing appropriate optical related measurements that will fit the patient’s visual needs
  • Processing patient’s eye wear orders
  • Fitting and dispensing of patient eyewear
  • Contact Lens insertion and removal
  • Eyewear adjustments and repair

The ideal candidate should have a passion to provide excellent customer service, be comfortable working with others, be a team player and feel comfortable interacting with patients in person and on the phone. Have strong communication skills (verbal & written), including strong relationship building skills, be self-motivated and take pride in high-quality work, and have the ability to work with precision and be detail oriented.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • No weekends

Experience:

  • Sales: 1 year (Preferred)

Ability to Commute:

  • Bloomfield Hills, MI 48302 (Preferred)
