SUMMARY

The Tooling Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the planning, execution, and completion of projects within the organization, focusing on the Tooling Department. This position assists in creating project schedules, developing scope and budget, organizing project activities, and tracking team progress to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet scope constraints.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Creates, tracks, and reports tool repair requests to ensure timely resolution.

2. Researches tool history, gathers part data, reports to tool maker and gains quotes from tool makers and reports to Tooling Engineer and Account Manager.

3. Researches, creates, and reports yearly tool condition reports for customers, ensuring accurate documentation and communication.

4. Assists the Tooling Manager with quoting activities, including gathering necessary information and providing support as needed.

5. Supports continuous improvement efforts within the Tooling Department and collaborates with internal teams to implement process enhancements.

6. Assists with and manages project plans and budget estimates required to advance each assigned project/defined effort. Establishes the overall project work plan.

7. Monitors progress of assigned projects; tracks timelines, milestones, standards, and targets; alerts appropriate personnel of any obstacles or potential delays; provides corrective action recommendations.

8. Assists with managing project schedules, budget tracking, and reporting process, including forecasting and variance analysis.

9. Assists with coordination of the technical review processes among internal specialists (including engineering, electro-mechanical, and process engineering)

10. Ensures project deliverables satisfy the project requirements within the agreed upon scope of work.

11. Tracks project documentation and ensures records are created and stored per process requirements. 

12. Assists with creating communication plans and schedules; helps ensure information is exchanged among key stakeholders.

13. Assists with scheduling and facilitating regular project team meetings.

14. Assists with gathering information from project teams, prepares project status updates, and may present to executive sponsors, key stakeholders, strategic partners, and managers on regular or requested basis.

15. Monitors and reports metrics for key performance indicators (KPI’s) during project execution.

16. Alerts manager of, and obtains appropriate authorization for, any potential changes to project cost, schedule, scope, or performance.

17. Assists with identifying and actively manages project risk. Assists with maintaining issue, risk, and action item logs.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

1. B.A./B.S. or equivalent experience in business, engineering, manufacturing, communication, or project management, preferred.

2. A minimum of 2 years' experience managing projects, preferred.

3. Must be able to work in a team environment.

4. Must have strong communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to escalate issues and find solutions.

5. Must be curious and have a desire and ability to learn new things to meet customer and company needs.

6. Must be able to manage time and multiple projects. Self-starter with strong reporting skills

7. Ability to lead project teams of various sizes and see them through to completion.

8. Must be organized, accurate, detail oriented and self-directed.

9. Must have knowledge of manufacturing processes and procedures, geometric dimensions and tolerances, blueprint interpretation, part drawings, tool drawings, 3D models, and quality standards.

10. Must be able to organize and facilitate meetings with all levels of management, internally and externally.

11. Strong understanding of formal project management methodologies.

12. Must have intermediate computer skills (Enterprise Resource Planning, MS Office, etc.) and be able to use portions that are applicable to job function. Experience with project management software required. 

13. Manufacturing and technical background required. Injection molding background preferred.
