EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
PROMOTOR COMUNITARIO

Title: Promotor Comunitario (RCLC1)
Starting Wage: $22.50 per hour
Reports to: Regional Program Manager
Location: Coachella Valley
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Position Status: Temporary, Full Time (up to 40 hrs. per week)
Effective Date: April 2024 ending on or before June 30, 2024

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator, the Promotor Comunitario will conduct outreach and educational
activities to build relationships with the Latino community in the Coachella Valley and promote local services to reduce
stigma associated with mental health issues, reduce access barriers, increase service utilization, and navigate people to
behavioral and mental health services they can trust.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identify potential sites and groups to conduct outreach and educational activities in the Coachella Valley.
  • Establish appointments with contacts at the sites/groups to carry out outreach and educational
workshops/presentations about a variety of mental health topics.
  • Participate in local community outreach activities (i.e., Tabling, door-to-door canvassing, health fairs and other
community events).
  • Provide information about Riverside County Latino Commission Counseling Center’s (RCLC) services, how to
access services and provide a warm hand off to navigate residents to local mental health services.
  • Participate in training provided by RCLC and Visión y Compromiso. Dates to be determined.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records and files on all outreach and awareness conducted.
  • Maintain consistent and constant communication with the Project Coordinator and Director of Programs

regarding all program components including attending meetings with the program team.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION

There is no minimum educational requirement.

EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience working with monolingual and/or bilingual Latino communities
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience conducting outreach and providing community health education.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience with technology and helping community members navigate online to local

resources and applicable health services.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS

Valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize a reliable alternative method of transportation when needed to
carry out job-related essential functions. Valid automobile liability insurance.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from individuals, groups, and the public. A bilingual
candidate in Spanish and English is highly desired. Proficiency in leading and facilitating engaging discussions to raise
awareness on a variety of health topics with individuals and groups.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Proficient computer skills for the purpose of data entry during enrollment events, sending and receiving email, calendar
scheduling, and virtual meeting attendance. Comfortable using and learning new technology. Proficiency with Microsoft
Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to travel locally within the assigned region as required.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience conducting successful outreach in diverse settings.
  • Experience with support groups, self-help groups and the utilization of community resources.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to effectively link community resources to the specific needs of program
participants.
  • Experience in providing outreach and educational activities to adults.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Availability to work the required hours as required.
  • Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule, including shifts on weekends and evenings.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform

The employee will sit, talk, hear, and use hands up to 15% of the time. The employee will stand 50% and walk up to 20% of
the time. The employee will drive or travel up to 15% of the time. The employee is routinely required to carry and/or lift 10

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing

Work environment varies with the locations at which outreach, and awareness activities are conducted. Brief exposure to the
elements (cold, rain, wind, sun) in the course of traveling to and from locations and entering and exiting facilities is possible.
