VirTra is Hiring a CMM Programmer / Inspector III Near Chandler, AZ

Will develop, maintain, and operate CMM programs used to inspect and verify production materials and components. Will document and report inspection processes (first piece, in-process, incoming, final), parts measurements, and nonconforming product. Works with and mentors’ other inspectors, machinists, and engineers with respect to measurement findings and inspection best practices.
Essential Functions:
  • Create, maintain, and operate CMM programs using InSpec and PCDMIS to inspect complex parts per specifications.
  • Audit and revise programs as needed for continuous improvement.
  • Ability to contribute to the team’s success by providing excellence in measurement techniques and mentoring other team members in measurement best practices.
  • Provide quality support for all facets of manufacturing - first piece, in-process, incoming, final inspection.
  • Ability to perform surface plate layout work to verify CMM measurements (comparator, sine plates, height stands, etc.)
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings per ASME Y14.5M (GD&T)
  • Demonstrates expert knowledge of when and how to use inspection equipment such as micrometers, dial indicators, height gauges, pin gauges, gauge blocks and plate inspection.
  • Generate nonconformance reports for discrepancies discovered during inspection processes.
  • Recommend/design inspection fixtures or gages for production purposes.
  • Complete and maintain detailed and accurate inspection reports (per AS9100) and analysis of inspection data.
  • Maintain safety and quality standards using acceptable housekeeping practices and 5s processes on equipment and work area.
  • Responsible for the operation and upkeep of all measuring equipment, including calibration.
  • Must be able to operate ERP, have computer knowledge and the ability to learn new programs.
  • Perform audits of work areas to ensure compliance with VirTra ISO 9001 procedures and Lean Manufacturing Principles. 
  • Work with the team to meet manufacturing deadlines.
  • Comply with department ISO 9001 protocol and Quality procedures and policies.
  • Proactively support quality initiatives and documentation and communication requirements as needed.
  • Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness; look for ways to improve; apply feedback to improve performance.
  • Manage and lot time worked daily by project/job code, as required.
  • Performs other duties as required and/or assigned.
Knowledge, skills & abilities:
  • Minimum 3 plus years' experience as CMM programmer using PCDMIS software from 3D solid-models and 2D drawings and/or InSpec software.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as quality inspector
  • Expertise with precise measurement tools, such as calipers, micrometers, plate layout and CMM
  • Demonstrates expert knowledge with PC-DMIS and/or MicroVu.
  • Expert with GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing) and blueprint reading skills required.
  • Familiar with Kaizen and lean manufacturing techniques
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. Frequently the employee will be required to stand; walk; use hands or fingers, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Ability to occasionally lift inventory weighing up to 50 lbs. with frequent lifting of 20 lbs. Must be able to sit and work at a computer for upwards of 4 hours at a time. Exposure to loud manufacturing equipment that may include smell. 
Education and Experience:
  • High School or GED Diploma required.
  • ASQ / Certified Quality Inspector, preferred.
  • Working knowledge of ANSI/ASME, ISO 9001, AS9100 and GD&T.
  • Basic math skills, trigonometry, and machine shop theory.
  •  Expert in the parts approval process and first article inspections.
Additional requirements:
To qualify for consideration, all candidates must be able to work 40 hours per week in a fast paced, high-demand, quality environment.
Full time position consisting of 40-hours per week. Normal hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm; or shift work Monday through Friday 6:00am to 2:30pm/2:00pm to 10:30pm. This position may require periodic overtime and weekend work during periods of high production and/or audit.
