Virginia Health Services is hiring a RN or LPN, Wound Care Nurse to work at Northampton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, located in Hampton, VA! This position is a Full Time opportunity that will include working Monday - Friday, 8am-4:30pm, with a possibility of occasional weekends.

The Wound Care Nurse has the following responsibilities:

• Performing dressing changes for pressure ulcers and other wounds as directed.
• Documenting pressure ulcer measurements weekly.
• Providing care plan interventions to prevent and promote healing of pressure ulcers.
• Documenting wound assessment weekly in Clinical Notes.
• Assuring responsible representative and physician are notified of wound changes.
• Making rounds with the wound care physician, if applicable, and contacting physician for orders and assures follow up to promote wound healing.
• Monitoring and managing systems as directed by the DON.
• Responsible for managing and conducting staff education.
• Completing assigned duties and paperwork timely.
• Assuming nursing on-call duties.
• Complying with all established policies and procedures.
• Attending and participating in QAPI committee as well as other committees as assigned.
• Promoting and demonstrating positive customer service towards VHS, co-workers, residents, and visitors.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing and holds current Virginia license.
• Experience and education in Gerontological Nursing is required.
• Computer knowledge is preferred.
• Ability to read, write, analyze, and interpret information.
• While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, turn, bend, stoop, lift, push, pull, reach, talk, hear, taste, and smell.
• Must be able to lift, push, pull and move up to 50 pounds.
• Risk of exposure to blood borne pathogens and hazardous materials.
