Virginia Health Services is hiring a Laundry Aide for our Lancashire Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, a long term care facility located in Kilmarnock, VA. This is a Full Time position, that includes working every other weekend.

The Laundry Aide has the following responsibilities:

• Loading articles into washer & dryer and selecting appropriate wash/dry cycle.
• Disinfecting/Sanitizing transfer barrels for soiled linen.
• Folding linen and preparing for distribution in the facility.
• Inventories linen in circulation.
• Maintaining a clean and sanitary environment.
• Following infection control precautions to prevent disease transmission.
• Monitoring water temperatures and chemical usage.
• Washing, drying and distributing resident's personal clothing as needed.
• Promoting and demonstrating positive customer service towards VHS, co-workers, residents, family members and visitors.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

• No prior experience or training necessary, but preferred. On-the-job training provided.
• Ability to apply simple mathematical concepts.
• Ability to read, write, analyze, and interpret information.
• Ability to effectively respond to questions and communicate with co-workers.
• While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands & fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
• Must be able to perform tasks in inclement weather when needed.
• Risk of exposure to bloodborne pathogens and hazardous materials.
