Position Summary:

A Research Assistant position is available immediatelyin the Department of Biostatistics at Virginia Commonwealth University. Thetasks include analysis of clinical genomics data, including single-cell and 3Dgenomics, R programming, bioinformatics/biostatistics/machine learning methodsdevelopment, preparing publication-quality material. This is an excellentopportunity for a motivated individual interested in bioinformatics, humangenomics, and sequencing data analysis.

Required Qualifications:

• M.S. in Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Statistical Genetics, Computer Science, or related field (degree in process is acceptable)
• M.S. in Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Statistical Genetics, Computer Science, or related field (degree in process is acceptable)
• Proficiency in programming, data analysis and visualization using R/Bioconductor, familiarity with Linux command line and high-performance computing environments, version control with Git
• Must demonstrate strong personal initiative and the ability to work effectively as a part of a team
• Must have a demonstrated commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion in past experiences or a commitment to do so as an hourly member at VCU

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with machine learning methods for genomics data analysis; experience with deep learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow) is considered a plus
• Experience with at least one of Python/Jupyter, Matlab, C, Java is considered a plus
• A track record of publications in relevant peer-reviewed journals is considered a plus
