Description

POSITION TITLE: Receiving Team Unloader

POSITIONREPORTS TO: Receiving ManagerDEPARTMENT: Production and Logistics

POSITION EFFECTIVE: July 31, 2023

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Receiving Team Unloader will ensure smooth and efficient receipt of incoming shipments and materials. The primary responsibility of this role will be to unload delivery trucks, inspect and verify the accuracy of shipments, and prepare items for storage or distribution within the organization.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Unload incoming delivery trucks and trailers efficiently and safely, adhering to proper handling procedures to prevent damage to goods.
  2. Conduct thorough inspections of received items, verifying their quantity, quality, and condition against packing lists and purchase orders.
  3. Accurately record received items in the inventory management systems updating stock levels and documenting any discrepancies or damages.
  4. Collaborate with the Receiving Team and warehouse staff to ensure seamless coordination of unloading and receiving activities.
  5. Organize and sort incoming materials, ensuring they are appropriately labeled and routed to their designated storage areas or departments.
  6. Assist in palletizing and staging received items for storage, distribution, or further processing, following standard operating procedures.
  7. Communicate effectively with supervisors, logistics personnel, and other team members to address any issues related to receiving and unloading processes.
  8. Assist in conducting periodic inventory counts and support inventory control efforts to maintain accurate stock levels.
  9. Collaborate with the Receiving Team to identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to enhancing overall warehouse efficiency.
  10. Maintain a clean and orderly receiving area, ensuring that it is free from clutter and potential safety hazards.
  11. Comply with all safety guidelines and protocols during unloading and handling of materials to ensure a safe working environment for all team members.
  12. Adhere to company policies and procedures, including timekeeping, attendance, and workplace conduct.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

This position has direct reports.

Qualifications


POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail with ability to accurately verify and record information.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team environment.
  • Safety-conscious with knowledge of proper handling and storage procedures for various materials.
  • Strong understanding of applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration requirements and other related safety policies and best practices.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in a warehouse or receiving role.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects, sometimes with the use of equipment such as pallet jacks or forklifts.

OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to work in hot and cold climates
  • Varying work schedules based on business need are sometimes required
  • Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Ability to operate a computer keyboard
  • Ability to read a variety of materials
  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to carry and lift materials up to 25 lbs.
