Description

POSITION TITLE: Communications Specialist

POSITION REPORTS TO: Director of Marketing

DEPARTMENT: Customer Success
POSITION EFFECTIVE: 04/10/2024

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Communications Specialist is responsible for developing and executing internal and external communication strategies to engage with clients along the VIRA Client journey, as well as engage employees, enhance brand reputation, and effectively conveying key messages to stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, a strategic mindset, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment while working cross-functionally to achieve organizational goals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Work alongside the marketing department to design and implement communication strategies that boost brand awareness and enhance reputation externally.
  2. Write and edit press releases, blog posts, social media content, and other external communications materials.
  3. Cultivate and maintain relationships with media contacts, industry influencers, and external partners to secure coverage and partnerships.
  4. Support crisis communication efforts by drafting statements, coordinating responses, and managing communication channels during challenging situations.
  5. Create compelling and engaging content for various communication channels, including written articles, videos, infographics, and presentations, ensuring alignment with brand voice and messaging.
  6. Develop and execute internal communication strategies to inform, engage, and inspire employees across all levels of the organization.
  7. Create content for internal communications channels, including newsletters, intranet, email communications, and employee meetings.
  8. Organize and manage company-wide events, town hall meetings, and other internal communication initiatives.
  9. Work cross-functionally to gather information and insights for content creation, including success stories and thought leadership pieces.
  10. Track, analyze, and report key performance metrics related to communication initiatives, such as engagement, reach, and sentiment while identifying opportunities for improvement.
  11. Perform other related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

This position has no direct reports.

Qualifications


POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Knowledge of communication best practices, industry trends, and emerging technologies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and communication software/tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail and storytelling ability.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or related field.
  • Proven experience in internal and external communications roles, preferably in corporate or agency setting.
  • Experience with content management systems, social media platforms, and media monitoring tools.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful sales and marketing enablement programs that drive revenue growth and improve sales productivity.
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms, trends, and best practices for brand engagement (i.e. LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram).

  • Varying work schedules based on business needs is sometimes required.
  • Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and/or ID.
  • Ability to operate a computer keyboard.
  • Ability to read a variety of materials.
  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
