Title: Summer Camp Counselor

Reports to: Summer Camp Directors

Summary:

• The role of the counselor at summer camp is to provide a nurturing, enriching, and Christ-centered environment where campers can grow spiritually, build meaningful relationships, and experience the transformative power of faith in their lives.

Human Resources:

• Counselors must commit to working the months of June and July with time off upon request to camp directors.
• Counselors are given 4 to 8 hour shifts per day and may not exceed 40 hours per week.
• Summer Camp operates from 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.

• Monitor Campers at all times.
• Assist and monitor campers during free play or centers (playdough, Legos, crafts)
• Take campers to the restrooms and outside time
• Monitor campers during and after lunch
• Plan games and activities during Gym Time
• Able to use positive behavior management techniques

Qualifications:

• Counselors must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. They should be able to articulate their faith and demonstrate commitment to living out Christian principals in their daily lives.
• Minimum working age per NC Law.
• Must have experience with working with school age children.
• Experience in leading crafts, games and daily devotions.
• Counselors should be team players that are willing to collaborate with other counselors to create a positive camp environment.
