Viking Transportation is Hiring a Freight Broker Near Tupelo, MS

We are looking for few more enthusiastic and self driven individuals to join our growing team. Viking Transportation is a privately held family company that has been in business since 2012 and is actively expanding. As a freight coordinator, your primary responsibility will be covering freight through our established carrier base and other provided networks. The position also includes customer service, driver management, performance reporting, daily tracking of shipments, collecting paperwork needed for billing, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Work with trucking companies, account managers, and operations to manage the transportation of goods.
  • Constantly calling out to source available equipment to cover shipments.
  • Communicate daily with drivers to ensure timely pick-up and delivery of goods for our customers.
  • Provide information to Operations Manager and Shipper Support Reps on any problems.
  • Learn and master software programs used in house.
  • Book numerous loads daily and update shipper reps of freight arrival and departure.
  • Negotiate rates with independent drivers, contracted carriers, and dispatchers, based off current market prices.
  • Ensure all trucks and shipments are compliant with DOT and FMCSA regulations.

Requirements and Skills

  • Proficiency Microsoft Office (all programs).
  • Ability to learn new software programs and portals easily.
  • Have a “get it done" attitude.
  • Strong mathematical and communication skills needed.
  • High degree of creativity, intuition, and street smarts.
  • Desire to succeed and highly competitive.
  • Ability to think quickly and respond positively under pressure.
  • Be self-motivated.
  • Excellent problem solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and time management skills.
  • Bi-lingual (any language) and previous dispatch experience a plus but not required.
