Victory Programs, Inc. is Hiring a Shelter Manager (Ramada) Near Dorchester, MA

The Shelter Manager is responsible for the daily administrative operation of the shelter, and supervision of the Resident Assistants. The Shelter Manager reports to the Program Director for weekly supervision and programmatic assignments.

Victory Programs at the Ramada in Dorchester provides life-stabilization services, intensive housing placement services and vocational case management services to homeless families and to pregnant women. Our program helps families increase self-sufficiency, gain healthy nutritional knowledge, search for more permanent housing and build job-readiness skills.

Essential Functions:

  • Act in accordance with Victory Programs Standards of Excellence at all times. Including maintaining professional ethics, boundaries and client confidentiality.
  • Ensures the program is in compliance with all contractual requirements.
  • Submit weekly efforts and snapshots to the Executive Offices of Housing and Livable Communities (EOHLC). Submit monthly census report and income verification to EOHLC and notify EOHLC immediately in the event of a resident termination.
  • Supervise, direct, train and evaluate the Resident Assistants with the support of the Program Director, Director of Victory Housing and the Chief Human Resource Officer.
  • Complete monthly billing narrative and submit to the Program Director for review by the first of each month.
  • Ensure all Resident Assistant staff maintains proper documentation and record keeping.
  • Coordinate monthly staff schedule for the shelter.
  • Participate in rotating on-call schedule and provide emergency coverage of uncovered shifts when required.
  • Oversee scheduling of educational groups and activities provided by external community-based organizations.
  • Communicate effectively with funders, referral sources, vendors and community-based organizations.
  • Develop and maintain existing service linkages to support the program, including developing relationships with local service providers.
  • Transport residents as needed.
  • Collaborate with other Shelter Managers to ensure continuity of services and care.
  • Attend weekly supervision with the Program Director.

Non-Essential Functions:

  • Represent the program in the community as requested by your supervisor.
  • Attend all staff meetings, trainings and as requested by your supervisor.
  • Participate and support the agency in program holiday events, trade association activities, State House rallies, fundraising and advocacy events, HIV/AIDS rally and walk and any additional functions.
  • Perform other duties or tasks that may from time to time be requested by the Program Director or the Director of Victory Housing.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or two years of human services management experience required.
  • Two years of supervisory experience is required.
  • Strong organizational and record keeping skills.
  • Valid Massachusetts driver’s license with a safe driving point of 98, 99, 00, 01, 02 or 03. (Must be 25 years of age to drive agency vehicles)
  • Knowledge of and experience working with individuals who are homeless or have Substance Use Disorders.
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively as a member of a professional team.
  • Ability to relate to residents in an instructive, directive, firm yet compassionate manner.
  • Knowledge of the addiction recovery process, or a willingness to acquire it within the first six months of employment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully in multi-cultural settings with diverse client groups, including those with mental health issues.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills including an ability to have open and affirming conversations.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Three professional references, at least 2 from a supervisor or manager.
  • Must be CPR certified and First Aid Certified (may be obtained upon hire)
  • Complete TB screening (may be obtained upon hire)
  • Bi-lingual preferred (Spanish or Haitian Creole)

Position Type: Full –Time Exempt (40 hours) Sunday-Thursday or Tuesday-Saturday

Rate: $61,600 Annually
