Medical Billing Specialist-Entry Level

Victory Medical is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Medical Billing Specialist. Victory Medical is a family oriented, locally owned business. The starting pay for this position is $16-$18/hour with increases based on experience and/or bilingual communication. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical billing procedures and regulations, as well as excellent communication and organizational skills. Responsibilities:
- Work correspondence daily
- Work outstanding Accounts Receivable from assigned work queues
- Meet productivity standards as set by the department
- Phone patients for payment or payment arrangements on outstanding balances
- Resolve tasks assigned to AR for follow up
- Assist AR Specialist with insurance records requests
- Make appropriate financial arrangements for payment of patient accounts; Respond to correspondence or telephone calls from patients about accounts
- Receive and resolve patient billing complaints and questions, initiate adjustments as necessary
- Demonstrate the ability to deal with patients regarding sensitive financial matters and capture unpaid balances including patient itemized receipt requests
- Customer service duties include: answering telephone politely and confidently for patients and others regarding billing inquiries and to resolve billing issues as well as making outbound calls to insurance to resolve balances/discrepancies
- Act as a resource regarding insurance compliance guidelines
- Accurately enter information provided by various sources to correct claims in regards to CPT and ICD-10 codes and send out results in a timely manner
- Must be able to interpret and communicate Explanation of Benefits
- Will audit accounts showing denials to resolve balances
- Submit and retrieve eligibility requests through web portals
- Strong data entry skills, with the ability to meet production guidelines as set by A/R department policy
- Ability to stay focused and perform job duties efficiently and accurately
- Duties include but are not limited to the above mentioned responsibilities
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in medical billing preferred
- Basic knowledge of CPT and ICD 10 codes
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer applications
