Viant is Hiring a Sr Commercial Development Manager Near Boston, MA

SUMMARY Develops quotes for plastic parts, assemblies and /or machined metal components based on engineering knowledge of the relevant processes that have significant business impact to Viant. Coordinates with commercial team associates and site based teams to understand customer requirements and develop an optimized solution. Serves as organization spokesperson for significant opportunities. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.Serves as organization spokesperson for significant opportunities through participation in customer meetings to explain our approach, solicit critical information, and collaborate with the customer to deliver a solution that meets their needs. Identifies and executes improvements to the quoting process to increase our win rate and overall team efficiency. Develop accurate and timely cost estimates for new business from customer provided information using Viant costing tools and engineering knowledge. Analyze prints, solid models, specification and other information to determine the most cost effective process to manufacture device and/or components.Identify appropriate Viant manufacturing sites for new business. Communicate with the targeted sites engineering and leadership teams to determine lead times, NRE costs, capacity availability and capital expense requirements.Determine Viant capital investment required and resultant payback.Lead proposal development for targeted opportunities.Determine customer funded NRE and capital required.Work with the sales and key site team members to determine optimal price point that maximizes Viant profitability while offering competitive pricing that enables Viant to win new business.Leads the approval for quotes based on revenue level, production site and customer. Includes interaction up to CEO, CFO, COO and CCO level to optimize Viant approach.Support Viant quoting process adherence to maintain accurate quoting records, may include training of sales team members on the process and forms requiredKey AttributesDemonstrated leadership skillsMust have a strong understanding of a production based environment, specific experience with device assembly and injection molding is strongly desiredMust have a strong understanding of financial analysis tools to develop Return on Investment modelsMust be highly organized and able to multi-task in a busy environmentMust maintain attention to detail and be highly accurate with figuresMust be able to manage time and work within sensitive deadlinesMust be able to prioritize without supervisionMust be proficient with Microsoft Office – Excel and OutlookMust be able to collect all necessary information to properly generate multiple estimatesMust be able to keep job status top of mind, and complete follow up requirements as necessaryMust be able to develop material and labor requirements to define the most cost-effective approach to make the productConsult with vendors and personnel in other departments to discuss and formulate pricing estimates and resolve issues. Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors. Must work well with all types of customers and personalitiesTravelThis job may involve up to 20% travelQUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Engineering Degree (BS). 15 years of experience in manufacturing, with 10 years in the healthcare industry.SPECIFIC SKILLS• Considered an expert in the fields of manufacturing processes, equipment and technologies. Comprehensive understanding of latest technologies and market trends in specific focus area. • Understanding and ability to operate Microsoft Excel, Word office products.• Ability to read and understand product design drawings used in the medical device industry. • Ability to use Solidworks to manipulate models and drawings to extract information required.LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
