ABOUT THE POSITION

Traffic/ITS Engineer | Virginia Beach, VA

VHB is looking for a Transportation Engineer to join our growing Transportation Team in Virginia.

VHB is seeking a dynamic and talented Traffic/ITS Engineer to join our Multimodal Transportation Team at our Virginia Beach, VA office. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic team, across diverse disciplines, giving you exposure to a wide variety of projects in size and scope.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of traffic analysis, concept development, and traffic operations studies
• Lead the development of traffic signal, signing and pavement marking, lighting and ITS/ATMS plans
• Develop specifications and estimates for construction
• Develop lighting design analysis reports, systems engineering documents, and other design support documents
• Perform field data collection and other on-site project support activities
• Interact with clients for coordination purposes
• Assist in marketing efforts
• Management of staff for completion of project tasks

 Skills & Abilities

• Excellent attention to detail
• Enthusiasm to learn and ability to take responsibility
• Working knowledge of data analysis tools such as Excel
• Working knowledge of design software, such as ORD, MicroStation and AutoCAD
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
• Team-oriented with strong capability to work independently
• A strong work ethic with the desire to learn and achieve
• The ability to work on multiple projects and work independently
• Strong computer skills
• Critical thinking and problem solving
• Ability to handle multiple concurrent projects

Qualifications

• BS in Civil engineering
• 5-10 years’ experience in traffic/ITS engineering
• Registered PE in Virginia or ability to obtain within 1 year
