Compensation Range:

$16.30 - $18.00 per hour

Job Summary:

The Part Time Veterans Services Ambassador provides security and oversees emergencies for the entire campus. Maintains written log of all activities for entire campus. Provides any needed assistance to other staff members. Provides peer support. Performs duties of clerical and administrative assistance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain cleanliness of facility and office space throughout shift.
  • Provide Residents with support or essential items as needed.
  • Remain available to assist clients with questions and requests. Crisis intervention with clients, as necessary.
  • Provide orientation of new clients to the requirements of the campus and the program.
  • Supervise and/or administer breathalyzer testing when appropriate.
  • Perform standard screenings for substance use by supervising the collection of urine test specimens, ensuring that proper security procedures are adhered to.
  • Maintain good order and discipline without favoritism in accordance with policies and in conjunction with treatment staff.
  • Monitors resident and visitor sign-in /out logs and screens resident passes.
  • Oversee facility ensuring that safety precautions are always observed; conducts facility security check regularly during assigned shifts.
  • Responds to all emergency or security issues that occur during designated shift and contacts emergency responders or police when appropriate.
  • Submits any necessary documentation needed to address safety hazards and maintenance concerns.
  • Reinforce policies/expectations for clients living in the residential treatment.
  • Provide written and verbal feedback to appropriate staff regarding anything which may positively or negatively impact a client’s treatment episode.
  • Complete and maintain facility incident reports, as directed and per policy.
  • Answer and screen incoming calls to provide appropriate transfer to staff, resources, or referrals.
  • Perform warm hand offs to incoming shift when getting off duty containing brief details of activity pertaining to facility operations and program while on duty.
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with established policies and laws to help maintain the integrity of the campus.
  • Maintaining accurate medication log report for all clients while observing medication distribution at scheduled med-calls, specific to the policies of the campus.
  • Assist intake personnel with inventory/logging of all personal items.
  • Assist treatment personnel with inventory, storing and tagging of all personal items left behind by AWOL clients.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the manager/supervisor.

Qualifications


Qualifications:

  • Prefer prior experience working with homeless population.
  • Knowledge of HMIS databases a plus!
  • Ability to prioritize competing responsibilities and thrive in challenging situations.
  • Able to change priorities at a moment’s notice.
  • Must be able to fluently read, write and communicate in English.
  • Must be able to comfortably, both mentally and physically, perform all aspects of job description and other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Veteran Status a Plus!

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to bend and lift light objects.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time while viewing a computer monitor.
  • Ability to speak English.
  • Must be able to work in a noisy, busy environment.

Covid-19 Requirements:

VVSD requires require all employees to be fully vaccinated and boosted (once but may change per contract requirements) for COVID-19. All prospective hires will be expected to provide proof of full vaccination as part of the pre-employment credentialing process.
