Veterans Multi-Service Center is Hiring a Program Manager (Supportive Services for Veteran Families) Near Philadelphia, PA

Position Summary

A Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) Program Manager fulfills a critical role in ensuring veterans and their families have the support they need. The Program Manager is a leader, ensuring the program runs efficiently, staff are well-equipped, and most importantly, that veteran families receive the crucial support they deserve. Essential functions and duties include:

Program Oversight and Management

  • Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the SSVF program, ensuring it runs smoothly and meets its goals
  • Managing the program budget and resources effectively, allocating funds to different areas as needed
  • Ensuring the program complies with all federal regulations and Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) guidelines. This includes staying up to date on any changes and adjusting accordingly

Staff Supervision and Development

  • Supervising a team of case managers and other program staff, providing guidance and support
  • Identifying training and professional development opportunities to equip staff with the knowledge and skills to best serve veterans and their families

Client Assessment and Service Provision

  • Assessing the needs of veteran families seeking assistance, understanding their unique challenges and circumstances
  • Developing and implementing individualized service plans for veteran families, tailoring support to their specific needs
  • Overseeing the provision of supportive services, which may include case management, financial assistance, childcare, and transportation

Collaboration and Community Engagement

  • Collaborating with other VA programs and community organizations to ensure veteran families receive comprehensive services; this could involve referrals, joint programs, or resource sharing
  • Advocating for veteran families and raising awareness of the SSVF program in the community; This could involve public speaking, outreach programs, or partnerships with local media

Data Collection and Reporting

  • Collecting and analyzing data on program performance, tracking metrics to measure the program's effectiveness
  • Preparing reports on program outcomes for VA officials and stakeholders, keeping them informed of the program's impact

Required Education, Experience or Eligibility Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in social services or related field and minimum five (5) years of program management in the non-profit sector as well as demonstrated experience overseeing training and professional development programs
  • Familiar with veteran services and primarily supportive services for veteran families or human service program delivery
  • Experience working with grant funded programs—particularly focused on veteran housing services experience working with diverse populations, as well as low-income individuals
  • Good computer skills with knowledge of databases and Microsoft Word Suite

  • Strong organizational, time-management, communication, and people skills
  • Ability to work both collaboratively and independently
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with an insured, reliable vehicle and acceptable driving record

  • Creativity and Initiative: Act and make decisions without being prompted, demonstrating a proactive approach to work and a willingness to take on additional responsibilities. Think outside the box, generating innovative solutions to problems or challenges
  • Critical Thinking and Problem Solving: Analyze and evaluate information and situations, identify key issues, consider alternatives, and make logical decisions based on sound reasoning that will achieve the desired outcome
  • Ethics and Boundaries: Maintain ethical and professional standards, demonstrating honesty, integrity, and a commitment to doing the right thing in all situations while maintaining professional boundaries

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has supervisory responsibilities. May also serve as a coach and mentor for other positions within the organization when requested by program manager

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand

Travel

Travel is primarily locally during the business day, although some out of the area travel and overnight may be expected.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $63,000.00 - $66,000.00 per year
