Position Title: Research Associate II or III

Position posting date: 11/28/23

Position start date: ASAP or until filled 

Salary/Range: $23.00 - $26.00 per hour

Status: Full time (40 hours per/wk), benefits eligible

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, hours between 9:00am to 5:00pm

Service/Division: Research/Anesthesiology

Under the PI supervision, performs basic research activities in a research laboratory and/or on research projects. The Research Associate II or III will support ongoing research projects utilizing behavioral, molecular and genetic tools to study neural mechanisms that underlie alcohol use disorder and substance use disorder. Primary responsibilities will include rat colony management, conducting behavioral training for rats on assays designed in the lab, and performing stereotaxic rat surgeries and intravenous rats surgeries. Additional duties will include performing biochemical techniques, histology and fluorescence microscopy.

Candidate will also co-ordinate research projects given to undergraduate interns. 

Candidate will manage and may supervise the execution of research projects outlined by the PI

Candidate Performs specialized research tasks, as outlined by supervisor and/or PI that require intermediate knowledge and skills in scientific area.

Preferred Prior experience with stereotaxic surgery on mice/rats and/or histology procedures is highly desirable. Must be willing to work an adjusted schedule to support research needs. 

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in biological sciences, neuroscience, cognitive science, or a related field from an accredited college or university AND at least 2 years of related experience.
