Vesco Oil Corporation is Hiring a Plant Maintenance Technician Near Detroit, MI

Maintenance Technician
Position Summary: Under moderate supervision, responsibilities include performing skilled level work in one or more areas of expertise and semi-skilled work in other general maintenance areas throughout the company. This includes but is not limited to plumbing, electrical and pipefitting maintenance and repairs as well as maintaining daily operation of equipment and facilities, inspections, installations, preventative maintenance, and providing emergency repairs as needed.
Essential Functions:
  • Performs skilled and semi-skilled maintenance and repair work on facilities, equipment and machinery.
  • Assembles, installs and/or repairs: wiring, electrical and electronic components, plumbing/pipe systems, physical structures, fixtures, paint, HVAC systems, locks/access systems, compressors, generators, engines, distillation units, oil pumps, oil meters, oil filter baler recycling machines, pressurized oil loadings/unloading/transfer systems, etc.
  • Diagnoses problems and determines corrective solutions, referring to and/or adhering to building codes, blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary.
  • Piping installation and ability to determine correct materials for each service.
  • Pump repair and installation.
  • Creates and maintains preventative/predictive maintenance programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools used to perform job duties in area of expertise.
  • General knowledge of multi-craft maintenance in carpentry, electric, heating/cooling, and plumbing.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions, including piping specification and engineering drawings.
  • Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Ability to operate the specific tools used in the area of expertise, including related tools and equipment such as common hand and power tools, hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.
  • May require the ability to operate a computer.
  • Must be skilled in mechanical troubleshooting and repair of various machinery and mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Travel:
  • Ability to travel periodically to other facilities within Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, and any future locations.
Hours:
  • Monday – Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
  • 40 hours per week with some overtime
  • occasional Saturdays and/or Sundays
Minimum Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years’ experience in maintenance/facility/equipment repair capacity (electrical/plumbing/HVAC/carpentry)
  • 2-5 years mechanical experience
  • Capable of working in a high paced environment
  • Pipefitting knowledge
  • Must be able to lift objects weighing 50 lbs. or more and/or frequent lift/carry 25 lbs. or more, employee must be able to work from all heights.
  • Valid Chauffeur’s license
  • Clean driving record
  • Must be physically qualified to drive and able to obtain a medical card
