Job Summary
The Sr. Program Manager – IT Business Operations will be responsible for providing managerial, analytical, and financial support to IT-led projects, as guided by Information Technology and the Program Management Office (PMO) standards and processes. This position will be heavily involved with the daily IT project operations to ensure effective project coordination and budget reporting across the entire department. The scope of work includes considerably complex projects that may span enterprise wide or facilitating segments of broad and complex, strategic projects that have organization-wide impact. This position is responsible managing the budget at portfolio level as well as the SG&A budget for the team. In addition, this position is responsible for the management of staff metrics, monthly reviews, and requested updates.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the execution of strategic initiatives and ensuring budgets are met.
  • Manage the cycle of moving resources on project to operational support and vice versa.
  • Form the project calendar and manage multiple projects at the same time to develop and maintain a planning and a usage view of resources assignment.
  • Provides leadership and oversight to a team of project managers and provides project teams with expertise and direction, with teams consisting of a mix of both FTE and contractor staff.
  • Provides input to resource plans, budget planning and tracking. Manages team(s) to achieve target scope, schedule, and cost and to ensure alignment to department and corporate strategy.
  • Collaborates with varying levels of indirect reports/resources and manages through influence. Uses capabilities to influence customers, stakeholders, and project managers to properly manage divergent expectations.
  • Navigates within a geographically dispersed and operationally decentralized organization leveraging a working understanding of customer, local (field), shareholder, and employee priorities to achieve varying project objectives.
  • Manages and partners with the Company’s external vendors and collaborates/teams with vendor resources.
  • Conducts periodic reviews to monitor milestone progress; identifies potential issues with key stakeholders and keeps IT leaders apprised of project status.
  • On a regular basis, assists business owners and project managers in preparing complete and comprehensive status reviews on all project activities and issues for project sponsors and IT leaders.
  • Facilitates and assists in proper articulation and communication of accurate expectations of project progress, project prioritization and project delivery timelines.
  • Provides input to build/deliver a central competency for project delivery best practices and coordinate the execution of strategic initiatives and ensuring budgets are met.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree – business or finance preferred.
  • 5 years of experience managing a budget of 30M
  • Understanding of and 5 plus years of experience managing capital and operating expense allocation
  • 8 plus years of experience with project coordination/project management in Information Technology
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Strong financial acumen
  • Deep understanding of IT and their impact on business operations including one or more of the following – ERP, PLM, CRM, Product Configurators, Human Capital Management 
  • Excellent project coordination, communication, and influencing skills within a matrixed environment.
  • Deep knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Proficiency in partnering with business leaders to drive company/department strategies.
  • Ability to interact with cross-functional groups, external clients, and vendors in driving organization change.
  • Experience leading a dynamic, complex project management office.
  • Experience delivering in programs/projects for information technology in a global firm preferred.
