Vermont Day School is a PreK-8 independent school in Shelburne, Vermont. The school offers exceptional instruction in core academics, along with a project-based approach to learning that fosters critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity and collaboration.We are seeking a French teacher to plan, develop and implement instruction in all aspects of language acquisition and French cultural studies for middle school students in grades 6-8. Our Middle School French program seeks to build enthusiasm and confidence with students’ command of the language, and to develop fluency in listening, speaking, reading and writing. In older grades, the curriculum moves into more advanced study of language structure. Students broaden their vocabulary knowledge and learn more complex grammar structures enabling them to participate in fluent dialogue, and read and write confidently and accurately in French. Our hands-on, interdisciplinary approach incorporates games, role-playing, skits, discussion, group projects, art, music and movement into everyday learning. In Middle School, students also read novels, short stories and poems by French speaking authors, and engage in interdisciplinary studies of French speaking cultures.
