The Animal Care Specialist is a key team member in ensuring the Shelter animals are well cared for in clean and wholesome environments. A Customer Care Representative is the first and last impression customers have of the establishment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Animal Care Specialist
Front Desk/Reception
Position Summary: Perform all functions necessary in regard to animal surrenders, intake of stray animals and licensing of the public’s pets. Ability to respond quickly to changes and expansions as needed to meet the ongoing needs of the organization and our customers. Shifts will be within the hours of 6:00 AM - 4:30PM, weekend availability required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Provide quality service to all patrons in a courteous, compassionate, and professional manner always striving to provide an excellent experience every time.
· Complete adoption paperwork and developing relationships with customers that allow for education and communication.
· Ensure paperwork and data entry is completed accurately and legibly.
· Computer entry for adoptions, intakes and return-to-owner are done promptly.
· Perform cashier duties, close out cash drawer, count money and balance reconciliation form.
· Daily bank deposits and paperwork associated with.
· Answer telephone and email inquiries from the public within a timely manner.
· Keep necessary forms and supplies adequately stocked.
· Update animal kennel cards as needed.
· Assist patrons in regard to their lost pets.
Cleaning of office and other cleaning duties as assigned.
· Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Mathematical Skills: Understanding of cash handling operations required.
Computer Skills: Proficiency with or able to learn/use ASM software (for use with animals in a shelter environment).
Other Skills, Abilities and Qualifications: Must possess basic customer service skills. Regular attendance, punctuality and access to reliable transportation is required. Ability to handle animals safely and humanely in all conditions. Able to work a flexible work schedule, including weekends and Holidays. Must be able to work under stressful and fast-paced conditions.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. There is continuous standing, walking, reaching, and carrying animals and supplies over 70 pounds. There is continuous repetitive motion of the hands, arms and legs. Good vision and hearing are required. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Work Environment: The Animal Care Specialist is exposed to potentially dangerous, fast-moving animals There will be exposure to dust, heat, cold and temperature changes; occasional wet floors, and animal noises, odors and dander.

Pay: From $14.35 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
