Plant Manager
POSITION DETAILS:
Job Type: Full-Time
FLSA: Exempt
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7am to 3:30pm
Location: South Bend Ethanol, South Bend IN
Travel: Limited Travel
WHAT WE WILL EXPECT FROM YOU
Requirements:
|
- 10 years of experience leading operations in an industrial setting including progressive plant supervisory experience
- Plant level experience in one of the following industries required--Ethanol, Chemical, Refining Industry (involving distillation) or Agricultural processing.
- Strong leadership skills and decisive decision maker.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Chemical unit operations.
- Process Safety Management.
- Experience with new product lines a plus.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and provide leadership and guidance to all plant personnel. This includes providing leadership, support, and collaboration with all levels of personnel.
- Demonstrate proactive leadership to all levels of plant personnel and effectively manage and resolve performance issues in conjunction with Human Resources.
- Manage and assist in development of the plant OPEX and Capital budgets. Identifies capital and revenue growth opportunities.
- Work closely with the Safety/Environmental Department at the plant and corporate level, to ensure safe and compliant plant operations consistent with the Process Safety Management principles.
- Coordinate with the Safety department to ensure that the appropriate level of documented investigation occurs under the Safety policies and procedures. Act as principal responsible party for ensuring all plant personnel diligently follow all Safety policies and procedures.
- Promotes proactive focus to trouble-shooting processes and fosters positive, high-involvement work environment.
- Direct sourcing of necessary personnel and schedule both turnarounds and shutdowns, manage capital projects and new construction, and coordinate contracting efforts.

ABOUT US:
RNG production from corn stover began in December 2021 with the completion of Phase I, at a capacity of 7 million ethanol gallons equivalent (EGE) per year. Upon completion of Phase II in the 4th quarter of 2022, the site will begin operating as a biorefinery, producing 60 million gallons of corn-based ethanol and an additional 19 million (EGE) of RNG from stillage. The integration of RNG and ethanol production, unique to VERBIO, incorporates advanced operational technology currently practiced at the company’s facilities in Germany. The process also yields humus, a soil amendment, and organic fertilizers.
In January 2018, VERBIO AG formed its US subsidiary, VERBIO North America (VNA), with headquarters in Livonia, Michigan, USA. VNA plans to build, own, operate, and finance biofuel facilities across the United States and Canada.
