Job DescriptionTechnology company is seeking a Project Engineer-Chemical, Mechanical & Thermal Process Design & Build to join the team in our New Castle, Delaware facility. This position will be responsible for conducting engineering calculations, specifying equipment and starting up various chemical processes. Candidate will work in a team environment and lead in support of created engineered solutions and troubleshooting of existing designs.The Project Engineer-Chemical, Mechanical & Thermal Process Design/Build duties include but are not limited to:Lead the development of conceptual designs & system requirements, work with external vendors to run trials and prepare equipment bid packages and quotations for drying, chemical processing and finishing processes.Develop required documents to meet good engineering practice (P&IDs, mass & energy balances, utility and throughput calculation and overall system architecture).Hands-on lead in the specification, equipment assembly, startup, run, teardown, & cleanup of various pilot plant processes both in our New Castle facility & external technology partner locations. Perform data analysis & interpretation of experimental data generated.Monitoring progress and performance of engineering contractor / equipment vendors during the execution of work, assisting as required.Interface with raw material partners & pickup/dropoff small samples and coordinate larger sample deliveries as required.Perform critical analysis of developmental & production processes and procedures for potential cost, quality, safety, reliability, and process efficiency opportunities. Develop action plans to address.Develop SOPs that are accurate, properly maintained and implemented.Basic understanding of Federal and State EPA, OSHA, PSM, EHS and DOT transportation regulationsPrecommissioning, Commissioning and startup support to operations as required.Requirements:Bachelors Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline is required.Minimum of 5 years of industrial experience as a project engineer with batch and continuous operations.Hands-on experience with drying (spray, disc, paddle, vacuum etc.), separation (chemical extraction, centrifuges, presses etc.) and their supporting utilities (boilers, chillers, etc.) is required.Excellent written and verbal communication skills including strong computer skills are required including proficiency with MS Word, Outlook and Excel. Experience with MS Project and Visio is very helpful but not required.Experience with controls systems design and at least one controls programming suite (e.g., Delta V, Allen Bradley, etc.) is desired.Excellent mechanical skills including the ability to manipulate common hand tools is required.Ability to work cooperatively and supportively with a broad range of individuals with different levels of education and experience.Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks simultaneously with guidance on priority in order to meet established deadlines.Respond positively and effectively to rapidly changing priorities and departmental needs.Demonstrated ability to motivate and lead by example.Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline oriented environment.Willingness to grow with the company and accept new challenges.We are an equal opportunity employer that recognizes the value of a diverse workforce.
