Veolia Water Technologies & Solutions (VWTS) is a worldwide leader in water recovery, treatment, and reuse. We design, supply, and operate a range of water systems - from food and beverage applications, to municipal water, to microelectronics ultrapure water and heavy industrial wastewater treatment. Our portfolio includes chemicals & monitoring solutions, start-up & operation, membrane & ion exchange products, and custom engineered equipment.
This position is responsible for the detailed mechanical engineering scope of industrial and municipal water and wastewater systems as well as biological sludge incineration and digestion, the Associate Project Engineer is a key technical team member in the execution of projects. The Associate PE develops mechanical related documents as well as the specification and selection of the dynamic and static mechanical equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of a more senior engineer, perform mechanical related design of water and wastewater treatment systems, ensuring design quality, while meeting project schedule, budget, and customers' expectations.
Perform required calculations needed for sizing, generate technical specifications and perform technical bid evaluations for the fabrication/procurement of various mechanical equipment including (but not limited to) pumps, blowers, compressors, chemical feed systems, vessels/tanks, filters, piping systems, and valves.
Take a prominent role and interface with other stakeholders in the development and validation of all aspects of the P&IDs.
Work with the mechanical design team to create general arrangement drawings for all equipment per project scope of supply.
Generate and issue all mechanical drawings required for the project. Documents may include utility table; pipe service matrix; equipment, valve and piping lists; foundation loading table, etc.
Engineer systems in compliance with engineering principles, customer standards and specifications, contractual requirements, and local applicable codes.
Ensure that all engineering designs, bills of material and technical data are completely and accurately documented by reviewing associated engineering drawings and related documents.
Coordinate activities concerned with process and mechanical design reviews as well as project issue (scheduling and technical) resolution related to design, construction and start-up.
Meet Quality Management System (QMS) requirements for project execution and documentation.
Interface with project manager, lead engineer and customer on project and problem resolution.
From time to time, this position may involve travel inside and outside the country.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other related technical discipline.
Experience with the specification and evaluation of rotating equipment, piping, tanks and manual valves.
Ability to read P&IDs and PFDs (including material balances).
Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail and a basic understanding of water chemistry.
Experience with hydraulic design including head and NPSH calculations for sizing of pumps.
Ability to communicate effectively and contribute to team and department projects.
Comfortable with a fast-paced work environment.
Good technical writing and oral communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain relationships with co-workers.
