Hourly Rate: $18.00 hour

Shift: Days M- F

Job Summary

The Quality Assurance Intern will interact with every aspect of our production process. The Intern will be assigned duties that provide meaningful practical hands-on experience across the areas of quality assurance, operations, and plant sanitation. The Intern will have the opportunity to gain practical knowledge and skills of a Food Manufacturing Laboratory. Experience will be obtained through learning and participating in testing, analysis and production within a thriving and rapidly growing Food Production environment.

Primary Responsibilities

• Update Safety Data Sheets in all labs, while working with EHS Team to ensure all information is available in our Portal.
• Assist in Anthocyanin project in Visalia as a potential new testing for customer specifications
• Assist in Resin project in Tipton to remove agriculture residues in oil products, sample preparation for Oil Techs
• Update and revise laboratory SOPs to include EHS section.
• Data entry and manage sample retention program.

• Follow all safety rules and practices to include the wearing of all essential personal protective equipment.
• Follow all food safety and personal hygiene practices.
• Act professionally toward co-workers, customers, vendors or other visitors to the plant.
• Perform other technical and general duties as required and requested in support of the QA Department.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• Basic troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Attention to detail is important.
• Must be proficient with computers.
• Basic knowledge of testing software is required.
• Ability to test software and question features or behavior is desirable, but not required.
• Degree in or working toward a degree in:
• Candidate must be completing either their Sophomore, Junior or Senior year at an accredited university while working towards a Bachelors Degree in Food Science, Dairy Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biological Engineering or Biology
• Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, with intermediate to advanced knowledge of Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
• Highly organized, self-motivated individual who can work independently as well as work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Physical Requirements

• The ability to meet flexible and changing priorities and the ability to work under pressure is a must.
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
• 60% Routine Laboratory analysis
• 30% Computer data entry
• 10% Walking, auditing facility, and climbing ladders.
