About Your Role

• Perform quality automotive metal fabrication work on pre-1980’s vehicles.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Meet with manager to identify chassis repair and review build sheets.
• Request necessary parts needed for repairs from parts’ department.
• Repair all rust and add any brackets or mounts needed.
• Place body on frame, fit mockup parts, bolt down.
• Weld seams and components in place.
• Modify parts according to assembly manual and build sheet.
• Drills holes following correct placement from template.
• Ensure proper templates and tools are being used.
• Gap tailgates, doors, grilles, etc.
• Install mockup motor, transmission, and headers.
• Bolt transfer case and check for proper clearance.
• Build and install cross member.
• Install hard tops if specified in build sheet.
• Weld and fabricate roll cages, exhaust, etc.
• Hold yourself and others accountable to complete the job efficiently and accurately the first time.
• Maintain a positive attitude and work well independently or with a team.
• Take clear photos of your work for documentation and customer service purposes.
• Arrive to work with a professional appearance and be ready to begin work at 7am.
• Abide by dress code and wear PPE as required.

Skills and Abilities

• Ability to MIG and TIG weld.
• Metal shaping skills using various gauges and materials.
• Automotive knowledge.
• Perform standard shop math: add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Familiarity of conventional and precision measuring instruments.
• Use and knowledge of all core welding/fabrication tools to weld, cut, or trim metal objects to dimensions as required by work orders.
• Inspection of both raw material and finished product for conformance to specifications.
• Working knowledge of fixturing and weld set up parameters (amps, volts, etc.)
• Accurately cut and bend material to required specs.
• Position, clamp, and jig of components preparatory to welding.
• Identify and repair cracks/fill holes in material using inspection equipment and processes.
• Familiarity with rust repair and panel replacement.
• General knowledge of fabrication, machining/welding equipment setup, process, and maintenance.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and efficiently organized workstation.
• Valid driver’s license with good driving record.
• Pre-employment drug screening required.
• Ability to pass a weld test with the Signature Series Fabrication Manager.

Education Background and Experience

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Previous metal fabrication experience, preferably within automotive industry.
• Photos of previous work preferred.

Physical Demands (To include but not limited to)

• Must be able to lift, carry, and place merchandise and supplies up to 50 pounds without assistance.
• Ability to wear required Personal Protection Equipment.
• Frequent standing and walking for long periods of time.
• Frequent reaching overhead and below the knees, including squatting, bending, stooping, kneeling, and twisting.
• Ability to work in hot or cold temperatures for long periods of time.
• Safely operate a motor vehicle.
