Terms and Conditions apply** Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or licensed independent practitioner, the Dialysis Tech II assists with a variety of direct and indirect patient care activities. These include assistance with activities of daily living, comfort care and nutritional support, and performance of selected diagnostic and therapeutic tasks and procedures as directed. Indirect patient care activities include maintaining a clean safe environment, and ensuring adequate inventory of supplies and equipment Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire: Certification by the Board of Nephrology Examiners-Nursing Technology (BONENT) or the National Nephrology Certification Organization (NNCO) as a Dialysis Technician Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment: AHA BLS HCP Certification Current Dialysis Technician Certification Experience REQUIRED: N/A Experience PREFERRED: Acute care experience as a nursing assistant or aide experience. Education/training REQUIRED: Completion of state recognized CNA program OR Completion of first semester junior year in a BSN VCU/MCV BSN students: Completion of Sophomore year, Nursing 201, 202, 261. Associate Degree and Diploma programs: completion of first year or a minimum of two semesters of basic nursing courses. Specialty areas, e.g. pediatrics, women’s health, psychiatry may require completion of a clinical rotation in that area, or Completion of medical assistant program. High School Graduate or GED, and Completion of EMT program Education/training PREFERRED: N/A Independent action(s) required: Functions under direction of RN in providing patient care, emotional support, and problem solving; all in accordance with hospital, nursing and unit policy/procedure. Requires prior approval or guidance from supervisor: time/schedule changes, legal issues, directed care which deviates from standard, identify educational resources to meet developmental needs. Supervisory responsibilities (if applicable): Supervises Dialysis Tech I's schedules and responsibilities. Additional position requirements: Dialysis technicians work day and evening shifts, weekends and holidays. Individual shift rotation and schedules will be established with your specific Nurse Manager/Practice Manager. Schedules, including requirements of shift rotations and hours of work may be adjusted as necessary to meet staffing requirements or as is in the best interest of the work unit. Call may be required. Age Specific groups served: Pediatric, Adolescence, Adult, Geriatric Physical Requirements (includes use of assistance devices as appropriate): Physical Lifting 50-100 lbs.
