Purpose of the position:
The Kennel Aide is responsible for maintaining a clean hospital environment and assisting Technicians and Assistants as appropriate.

Responsibilities: Essential job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following.
Technical Responsibilities:
1. Regularly survey patient cages/runs for cleanliness. Clean immediately if needed and record urine/stool on the treatment sheet.
2. Walk stable pets outside if requested by following hospital protocol and clean up after the patient.
3. Notify the Lead Technician when supplies and equipment need to be repaired or ordered.
4. Offer food and water to patients as directed by a technician.
Facilities:
1. Keep all areas, including reception, exam rooms, treatment sinks, countertops, tables, floors, cages, etc. clean at all times.
2. Manage laundry and pet food area, keeping dishes washed and loads moving at all times.
3. Monitor supplies and paper towels in all areas of the hospital.
4. Empty garbage as needed. Pay attention to hospital odor control.
5. Always display a “wet floor” sign after mopping an area.
6. Perform general janitorial duties to help maintain a clean professional hospital.
7. Restock inventory items and immediately note deficiencies on the “want list”.
8. Perform ‘poop patrol’ and pick up litter around the perimeter of the building at least twice per shift.
9. Restock poop bags outside.
General:
1. Be able to work with other team members and consistently treat all clients and co-workers with courtesy and professionalism.
2. Always respect patient/client confidentiality.
3. Immediately notify the Floor Lead/Supervisor/Doctor of any client that seems to be uncomfortable or unhappy with any aspect of our hospital.
4. Complete training and continuing education assignments on schedule.
5. Refrain from personal conversations with other staff members while clients are present in exam rooms or the lobby.
6. Follow safe procedures and immediately inform your Supervisor of unsafe conditions/practices.
7. Handle all animals with both caution and compassion. Do not physically discipline animals.
8. You may be requested to work beyond regularly scheduled shifts at times due to an unexpectedly heavy emergency caseload.
9. Support other services when required.
