VBCare Network LLC is Hiring a Data Scientist Near Phoenix, AZ

The Healthcare Data Scientist plays a pivotal role in enhancing VBCare and ABC Network’s analytical capabilities and value-based performance analysis. This position involves data collection, data management, report programing and analysis. This position is responsible for developing and programing statistical and performance reports and analysis, dashboards, and providing actionable insights to health centers. The analytical work of this position supports clinical performance improvement, financial performance, and achievement of VBCare and ABC strategic objectives. The data scientist will identify opportunities for performance improvement and improved patient outcomes, and financial performance of contracted health centers.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Develop, refine, and maintain quality and cost performance reports and dashboards using our population health data warehouse and analytics platform.
  • Work with health plans, health centers and other 3rd parties to collect and integrate relevant care gap, membership, clinical and claims data into our SQL and cloud-based database.
  • Program data queries using R, python, SAS program language to support standard and ad hoc performance reports.
  • Collaborate with CEO, Medical Director, CFO, and performance improvement staff to develop and maintain required reports, dashboards, and graphic visualizations to provide support of performance improvement efforts.
  • Analyzes benchmarking data, reports, processes, and performance measures.
  • Design, test, document, and maintain database queries and reports.
  • Merge multiple structured and unstructured data sources to enhance reporting analysis.
  • Logically segment populations into useful analysis of care gap outcomes and cost of assigned Medicaid and Medicare beneficiaries.
  • Perform analysis on total cost of care and beneficiary service utilization to develop conclusions and recommendations for performance improvement. Forecasts cost and utilization trends and creates financial modeling using claims and other health care data.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Minimum of a master’s degree in Economics, Mathematics, Public Health or Healthcare Informatics, Bio Engineering, Statistics, or related field.
  • Minimum three years demonstrated experience in evaluating and developing performance improvement reports and analysis and maintaining SQL database and systems.
  • Expert in using Tableau analytic platform, excel, and Microsoft Power BI.
  • Experience using Microsoft R, python, and SAS statistical programming language.
  • Experience developing algorithms and computation formulas for machine learning.
  • Must have experience developing graphical visualizations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of value-based payment models and healthcare data elements.
  • Strong analytical skills and statistical/financial modeling.
  • Strong ability in database query design and report generation.
  • Experience reporting and performance improvement in healthcare.
  • Knowledge of Medicare Risk Adjustment and related business processes.
  • Arizona Driver’s License.
  • Must be a Permanent Arizona resident.
  • Must be a US Citizen or have a permanent work visa.
