Position Summary and Responsibilities
Vassar College invites applications for the position of Assistant Director of Athletic Communications. This is a full-time, benefit-eligible ten-month position. Weekend, holiday, early morning and/or late evening hours are required.
The successful candidate will assist the Director of Athletic Communications with the promotion of the department's 25 varsity sports and four varsity club teams.
Responsibilities:

• Assist with the management of the athletics department's website
• Write game recaps
• Cultivate positive relationships with media members
• Write, edit, and assist in the design of graphics and video content for social media
• Assist with day-to-day operations
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Required Qualifications

• Bachelors degree
• Experience in an athletics communications or media relations setting as an undergraduate or professional.
• Demonstrated writing skills with prior experience in sports writing, sports copy editing, proofreading or desktop publishing.
• Must have ability to work on deadlines and handle several responsibilities simultaneously with minimal supervision.
• Experience and demonstrated proficiency with computers and desktop publishing programs on Macintosh and/or PC platforms.
• A valid and unrestricted drivers license.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in communications, journalism, public relations or a related field.
• Experience with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Premiere Pro.
• Experience with sport-specific software programs, such as StatCrew and NCAA LiveStats and content management programs.
• Familiarity with SIDEARM-designed websites.
• Experience with digital photography, videography, graphic design, video design and applying created content to social media platforms. Knowledge of emerging social media platforms.
• The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal, organizational, and written/oral communication skills.
