Stationary Engineer (Boilerhouse Operator)

POSITION SUMMARY

Maintain safe and efficient operation of the boiler house including boilers, air compressors and water treatment plant while delivering the required steam, air pressures, and volumes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

· Operation of the boilerhouse (which includes tanks, pumps, compressors, lines, valves, and all equipment within the plant) in a safe manner in line with agreed proceedures.

· Proper communication and documentation as required for the operation of the plant to ensure maximum output and quality of product at all times when in operation.

· Inventory control in the Caustic and Hydrochloric acid tank farms and all other chemicals involved with the process.

· Maintains a high level of housekeeping in the work area including the caustic and acid tank farm.

· Make appropriate adjustments to the equipment used in the process to maintain the required steam quality and maximize efficiency.

· Immediately report any accidents or hazardous incidents and prepares the plant for maintenance using proper LOTO and SWP procedures when required.

· Perform regular plant safety inspections/ audits and writes/enter work orders for all required repairs.

· Responsible for providing training to new and/or relief personnel.

· Utilize computer control and monitoring systems so that proper setpoint adjustments and related process peripheries are correctly adjusted to ensure standard operation, quality and efficiency.

· Perform analytical measurements as required to ensure demineralized water quality and steam blowdown amount at all times.

· Perform ay other non-routine duties as directed by management or supervision.

Desired Background

H.S. Diploma or GED – must be able to read, write, and communicate verbally.

Knowledge, Skills & Talents

More specifically, we would seek the following attributes and competencies for the position:

• Must have City of Chicago Stationary Engineers License.

• Knowledge and experience in using personal computers and computer run equipment.

• Must have minimum one (1) year of experience operating high-pressure steam boilers, preferably up to 1000 psi.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $37.00 - $41.00 per hour
