ROLE HIGHLIGHTS

The Forklift driver is a key member of the warehouse team, responsible for ensuring smooth and efficient goods movement. In addition, to operating forklifts safely, responsibilities include loading and unloading shipments, organizing inventory, collaborating with team members, conducting equipment inspections, and maintaining warehouse cleanliness.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Conduct routine inspections of forklifts to ensure they are in proper working condition.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations while operating forklifts.
• Communicate effectively with warehouse supervisors and colleagues to coordinate tasks and prioritize workload.
• Assist in inventory management by accurately recording goods movement and updating inventory systems.
• Utilize forklift attachments (such as clamps, rotators, or extensions) as needed to handle different types of loads.
• Participate in training sessions to stay updated on forklift operation techniques and safety practices.
• Report any accidents, incidents, or near misses involving forklifts to the appropriate personnel.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the warehouse, including aisles, storage areas, and forklifts.

Requirements

IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 

• Proficiency in working within industrial environments, demonstrating adaptability to varying conditions.
• Strong teamwork skills, capable of effectively collaborating with other staff members, including Warehouse Packers, to ensure coordinated movement of goods. 
• Thorough understanding of warehouse health and safety regulations, prioritizing the well-being of oneself and others.
• Familiarity with industrial storage protocols, including proper techniques for stacking pallets, ensuring optimal space utilization and safety compliance.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE COMPUTER SKILLS

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic math skills for counting and simple calculations.
• Ability to read labels and numbers accurately.
• Comfortable standing for long periods during work shifts.

May be required to have a valid driver’s license and meet Vantage Driver Approval requirements.
