Responsibilities:
· Order and interpret diagnostic tests, with implementation of appropriate treatment plan and follow-up care in a cost-effective manner.
· Promote preventive and health maintenance care, including annual physicals, positive health behaviors, and self-care skills through education and counseling.
· Perform medical exams, reviews, and conduct appropriate military specific documentation such as (but not limited to) narrative medical summaries for Medical Evaluation Boards, medical profiles, and quarters authorization following military specific policies.
· Perform medical procedures within credentials and scope of practice. Procedures may include, but are not limited to, casting/splinting, suturing, excisional skin biopsies, vasectomies, and micro excisional dermatologic techniques.
· Request consultation or referral with appropriate subspecialties, clinics, or other health resources as indicated.
Education:
· Successful completion of a Family Nurse Practitioner program from an accredited School of Nursing at the time of graduation.
· Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience (within the last 4 years) of routinely practicing as a nurse practitioner.
· A BSN is required, but an MSN is preferred.
License and Certifications:
· Nationally certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner through the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) or the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
· A permanent, full, and unrestricted license to practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner. License cannot be under investigation nor have any adverse action pending from a State Board or national licensing/certification agency. May be licensed in any of the 50 states.
· A current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Life.
