Van Zandt Animal Care Center is now interviewing for full time Veterinary Technician position. Prerequisite 1-3 years experience working as a VT. Hours will vary and you must be available to rotate Saturdays and on-call status.

The ideal employee will have a strong knowledge of animal behavior and be able to work with the Veterinarian while conducting examinations, diagnostic procedures, and during surgery as needed.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

• handling patient flow and service to clients so they feel as comfortable as possible before, during and after treatment of their animals
• determine patient needs by interviewing the client, reviewing records and conducting initial exam (weight, vitals, collecting samples)
• fully assist the Doctor in all procedures to most efficiently treat patients and maximize production
• assemble required instruments and supplies
• proficient in blood draws, catheter placement, lab set up and testing, surgical prep, intubation/extubation, post surgical follow up, and client education
• maintaining patient computer records, charges and updating as needed
• maintaining a clean and safe environment for patients and coworkers

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 35 per week
